Palm Springs will soon offer yet another reason to visit: an 11,000 sports and entertainment arena.
The arena was announced in the Fall of 2019 as a partnership between the Agua Caliente band of Cahuilla Indians and Oak View Group. The $250 million development will become a part of the Agua Caliente Cultural Center and will be located adjacent to the Aqua Caliente Casino off Amado Road.
The American Hockey League is expected to locate one of its junior teams at the arena; in this configuration the arena will hold approximately 10,500 patrons. The facility will also serve as a premium entertainment facility seating about 11,500 people.
Due to the expected influx of visitors when events and games are held significant additional resources and manpower from the City of Palm Springs will be required. The City’s police and fire departments havs submitted new budget figures to the working group that will serve as representatives of the Indians. A new firehouse is expected to be constructed off Avenida Caballeros and will house new equipment and additional personnel. The Palm Springs Police Department will be responsible for public safety and the department has also submitted requests for more manpower and police vehicles.
